Hello, and welcome to a quick glance at Calistaprints creative space. I am Calista - a Canadian prairie girl recently transplanted in the beautiful city of San Francisco. Watercolor is my main medium, but I also specialize in larger acrylic work. If you are here because you love art, welcome! If you are here because you love your pet, also welcome ;) and please visit my custom work page.
A little more about me:
I find that I am happiest and most secure when I am involved in a creative process. I believe that art is therapy and should be treated as such. I focus on the artistic process and meaning behind my work rather than the ‘success’ of the final product. However, the process is not always organic and I am coming to terms with that. I create with the purpose of creating. Planning and meaning-making is a large part of what I do. Of course, viewers of my work are encouraged to find their own meaning in what they see or feel.
My work materializes in many different forms. I work in acrylic, watercolor, ink, pencil, ceramics, and mixed media. The artistic process allows me work on my holistic self. Mentally and emotionally I use the creative process as a way to calm my nerves and release anxiety. Spiritually, I create art to build a relationship between myself and something (anything) outside of myself. Lastly, I find myself drawn to mediums and processes that involve physical exertion. I enjoy the process behind lithography and collograph, painting on a large-scale, and most recently, the relationship between me and the wheel when I work with clay.
I hope you find a relationship with my work, but if don’t, that’s okay too. If you have any questions please contact me at
